Carrying On a Tradition of Faith

Our History

The history of the church of God in Oklahoma can be traced back to December of 1894. The first meeting was a neighborhood meeting held in the Harmon School house in Ripley. The railroad went through Ripley in 1900 and the town started growing and in 1901 W. H. Oldham became the first pastor. The second Church of God goes back to 1895. Brother Teter and Brother Shipman conducted a revival in a log schoolhouse about four miles northwest of Bristow. A number of people were converted and continued to worship in homes. Rev. Carlin first Took the truth of God to the Dacoma community in 1895. The meeting was held in the old Red Bird schoolhouse. Today we have 55 churches in the state of Oklahoma.
