Sharing A Cup of God's Love
For the past two years the Elk City Church of God has been doing a community outreach called “Sharing a Cup of God’s Love.” This outreach consisted of going out in the neighborhood and doing chores that individuals needed done around their homes such as: mowing the grass, doing minor repairs, and even changing oil in their vehicles all at no charge.
This year, the congregation decided to help one of its own members who needed some major repair work done on her house. On Saturday, October 16, seven men, supported by several ladies in the church, descended on the home of Ruth Sewell and began the process of re-siding her home. Old trim was removed; new siding attached and then painted, thus improving the appearance of the outside of the house. The job could not be completed in one day or by the time this article was written, but Ruth commented that the work already done has greatly improved the looks of her home.
At the Elk City Church of God we believe ministry that touches people’s lives in a real and practical way is one way to accomplish our mission statement of "Changing Lives Through God’s Love."
